At LiveBitcoinNews, ethics guide how we report, how we handle conflicts, and how we treat readers, sources, and commercial partners. This Ethics Policy sets the standards we expect of our newsroom and contributors.
It works alongside our Editorial Policy and Fact Check Policy.
Purpose
We publish news and analysis about cryptocurrency, blockchain, Web3, and digital assets. Markets move fast, claims are often contested, and commercial incentives are common. Clear ethics reduce the risk that coverage becomes advertising, rumor, or undisclosed promotion.
Independence
Editorial decisions belong to the newsroom.
Advertisers, sponsors, exchanges, token issuers, PR firms, and other commercial partners do not decide what we cover, what we emphasize, or what we conclude. Payment for advertising or sponsorship does not buy favorable coverage.
If a commercial relationship could reasonably affect how a reader judges a story, we disclose it.
Conflicts of Interest
Writers, editors, and contributors must avoid conflicts that could compromise, or appear to compromise, our reporting.
Examples include:
- Undisclosed financial ties to a project, token, exchange, or company featured in coverage.
- Accepting payment, tokens, equity, or other value from a subject in exchange for coverage.
- Writing about an employer, client, or close personal relationship without disclosure and editor review.
When a conflict exists and the story still serves readers, we disclose the relevant relationship and involve an editor who is free of that conflict.
Personal Trading and Holdings
Crypto markets make personal holdings a practical ethics issue.
Contributors should not use unpublished reporting to trade ahead of publication. They should not promote tokens or products for personal gain under the guise of independent journalism.
Where a contributor holds a material position in an asset central to a story, they should tell their editor. We may disclose the holding, reassign the story, or add an editor note when disclosure helps readers judge the work.
Gifts, Travel, and Hospitality
We do not accept gifts, tokens, paid travel, or hospitality that could reasonably be seen as buying influence.
Modest conference access or product samples used only for reporting may be allowed with editor approval. Anything of material value should be declined or disclosed and handled under editor guidance.
Sponsored Content and Advertising
Sponsored articles, partner posts, and ads are not independent news.
They must be clearly labeled so readers can tell them apart from editorial reporting. Sponsored inventory does not set the news agenda, and it does not rewrite our news judgments.
Affiliate links, when used, are disclosed. Commissions do not determine our editorial conclusions.
Sources and Confidentiality
We treat sources fairly and protect confidential sources when confidentiality was promised and the information serves the public interest.
We do not fabricate quotes, invent sources, or present rumors as confirmed fact. We do not pay for interviews that would distort incentives around a story, except in rare cases approved by an editor where the public interest is clear and disclosed as needed.
Corrections and Accountability
When we get something wrong, we correct it.
Readers can report possible errors to our editorial team. Significant corrections should be visible on the affected page. Patterns of failure are a newsroom issue, not only a single-article fix.
For verification standards, see our Fact Check Policy.
AI and Automation
We may use tools, including AI systems, to assist research, drafting, editing, or production.
Humans remain responsible for published work. We do not knowingly publish fabricated citations, invented quotes, or unverified AI claims as fact. Editors remain accountable for accuracy, fairness, and disclosures on stories that use such tools.
Harassment, Discrimination, and Conduct
We do not tolerate harassment, discrimination, threats, or abusive conduct by staff or contributors in the course of their work for LiveBitcoinNews.
Reporting should be firm when facts warrant it, without personal attacks or demeaning treatment of sources, subjects, or colleagues.
Reader Trust
Our job is to inform readers, not to manipulate them.
We avoid deceptive headlines, undisclosed native advertising, and engagement tactics that misrepresent the story. We separate news, analysis, and commercial content as clearly as practical.
Questions and Complaints
Questions about this policy, possible conflicts, or ethical concerns can be sent through our Contact Us page.
Serious complaints are reviewed by editorial leadership. Where a policy update is needed, we revise this page and change the date above.
